INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

WHY INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE?

In medicine there are some who like to differentiate between conventional medicine and alternative medicine. Integrative physicians are doctors who believe there can be the best of the two worlds. These physicians take it upon themselves to learn other healing modalities and integrate them to adjunct conventional medicine. At Hope Integrative Care, we assist and empower the patient in self-discovery about the root cause of their issue and not just treat symptoms.

CAN INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE HELP WITH ADDICTION AND PAIN?

At HOPE Integrative Care we believe addiction is a very complex condition. Our providers believe that each patient is unique and therefore treatment needs to be tailored and dynamic to our patients. At times, other modalities of healing should be explored to help assist with the journey of healing.

OSTEOPATHIC MANIPULATION

Osteopathic Manipulation-or OMT, is hands-on care. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using OMT, your osteopathic physician will move your muscles and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance. Osteopathic physicians believe the body has the wonder ability to self heal. It is the job of the physician to help patient realize that.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is defined a system of complementary medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles, used to alleviate pain and to treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West. There has been many studies done with addiction all which show promise in assisting with alleviating symptoms of withdrawals and pain.

THERAPEUTIC CUPPING/GUA SHA

Therapeutic Cupping/Gua Sha is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. During the Olympics therapeutic cupping usually gain some fame on the news.

Similar to Gua Sha, but involving therapeutic mechanical scraping on the body with an instrument. Research has shown that these therapeutic marks after treatment can improve a persons detoxification and enhance their immune system.
